Reconozco que este año no he sido del todo exhaustiva con las felicitaciones de Navidad ni de fin de año. Normalmente, mando mensajes en ambas ocasiones a todas las personas que considero importantes. También escribo resúmenes ensalzados de mi año en Facebook. No es que este año no os desee a todos un feliz año nuevo, os lo deseo de corazón. Estoy más que agradecida porque 2014 ha sido un año fantástico como lo fue 2013 y como lo será 2015.

Tengo propósitos de año nuevo, faltaría más: leer más, escribir un poquito cada día, gestionar mi tiempo de manera más efectiva y aprender a desconectar. Y a este último propósito se debe mi "descuido" en estas fiestas. Después de otro año entero sin vacaciones necesitaba olvidarme del mundo y empezar de nuevo. ¡Allá vamos con el 2015!

I must admit that I haven't been at all thorough with my Xmas and New Wishes this year. I usually send messages to all the people I consider important in my life. I also write those cheesy year summaries on Facebook. It is not that I don't wish you have a great year, I really do. I am more than thankful because 2014 has been a great year as it was 2013 and 2015 will be.

I have New Year's resolutions, of course: reading more, writing more, using my time better and learning to relax. That last resolution is the cause of my carelessness this Chrismas. After yet another year without vacation I just needed to forget about the world for a while and restart my system. There we go, 2015!

Hay algo en los días de otoño. Algo que nos gusta y es necesario. Huele a humo, a frío, a hojas secas. El sol es cálido y la luz difusa. Los días de otoño me devuelven a mi infancia, cuando teníamos que volver al colegio, mi madre nos llevaba a comprar ropa de abrigo y mi abuelo me mandaba un paquetito de castañas peladas para merendar todos los días. No son días de alboroto, son días de paseos, tes y cafés, algún dulce de vez en cuando, leer y relajarse. Hay que disfrutarlos, que mañana ya es diciembre, y aunque es uno de mis meses favoritos del año, diciembre trae el invierno.

There is something about fall days. Something we love and is necessary. It smells like smoke, cold, and dry leaves. Sun is warm and light difuse. Fall days take me back to childhood when we had to go back to school, mom took us shopping for coats and my grandpa brought chestnuts home for me every afternoon. Fall days are not lively, these are days for walking in the sun, tea and coffee, something sweet from time to time, reading and relaxing. Let's enjoy the last fall days because tomorrow it will be December already and, although it is one of my favorite months, December brings winter.

Nos vestimos de lo que deseamos ser. Nos vestimos para acercarnos a los sitios que queremos visitar. Nos vestimos para enfrentarnos las aventuras diarias que queremos correr. Yo quiero irme a Londres otra vez, empaparme de su ritmo, del arte y la creatividad que late en la ciudad 24 horas al día. Quiero ser una mujer que trabaja y crea y no para. Quiero seguir aprendiendo. Quiero seguir siendo niña y seguir gustando. Y en un tiempo me quiero ir a Japón, a vestir sandalias con calcetines, sí, y muchas cosas más. Pero antes de todo eso, tengo que encontrar un regalo para celebrar 4 años de novios y planear un calendario de adviento relajante. Se ha pasado el año volando.

We dress to express what we want to be. We dress to get closer to the places we want to visit. We dress to live our daily adventures. I want to go back to London, soak up in its rhythm, art and creativity 24/7. I want to be a woman that works and creates and never stops. I want to keep on learning. I want to keep being girlish and liked. In time, I want to go to Japan because I can wear socks and sandals there, an many other reasons. But before all that, I want to find the perfect gift for 4 years of love and plan a relaxing Christmas calendar. This year has just flown.

Últimamente, cada vez que pongo la cabeza en la almohada y me dispongo a dormir, me pasa lo mismo. Pueden ser unos segundos, o largos minutos. También me pasa despierta, cuando no estoy demasiado enfrascada en el trabajo. ¿Qué te pasa? Mi cabeza viaja a París. Ay qué típico, sí. Pero, no puedo hacer más, es mi ciudad favorita del mundo mundial. Porque cada vez que voy, la reconstruyo a mi manera y me vuelvo a enamorar. Para mí París a sido rebelión, romanticismo, literatura, bohemia, moda, glamour. Todo lo que yo quiera. Está siempre conmigo: en esa boina roja, en ese combinar los colores de la bandera francesa, en mis labios rojos. Hace unos días que todo me llama a volver. Y yo suplo mi falta comiendo crepes y leyendo revistas en francés. Hasta que vuelva.

Lately, every time I rest my head on my pillow and try to sleep, something happens. It can be seconds or long minutes. It also happens when I am awake, if I am not too engrossed by work. What's the matter with you? My head flies to Paris. Oh, that. I can't help it, it is my favorite city in the whole wide world. Because every time I go there, I build it up from scratch my way and I fall in love again. To me Paris has been rebellion, romanticisim, literature, boheme, fashion, glamour. Anything I want. It is always with me: in the red bonnet, in my combination of the flag colors, in red lips. For a few days, everything signals me to go back. And I try to fill the void eating crepes and reading French magazines. Until I am back where I belong.

Hace muchos, muchos años, bueno, quizás no tantos, yo era una chica que estudiaba Filología Inglesa en la Universidad de Barcelona. Mi especialidad fue la literatura norteamericana y recuerdo como siempre me había fascinado el estilo de los pilgrims que llegaron a America. También me gustaba como se vestían los Amish y los judíos ortodoxos. De todo se aprende.

A long, long time ago, well, maybe not that long, I was a young girl who majored in English at University of Barcelona. My focus was on American Lit and I remember how fascinated I was by the clothing of the pilgrims who arrived in the Mayflower in Plymouth. I also remember loving the way the Amish dressed and the Orthodox Jews looks. You live, you learn.

Ya sabéis que no hay punto medio para mí. Igual que soy una adicta a los lacitos y los vestidos de lo más twee, me encanta vestirme de chico. Inspirada en el desfile de la temporada pasada de Umit Benan, esta mañana he cogido sombrero, camisa y corbata para nuestro paseo de domingo por Malasaña, le añadimos el labial rojo y... voilà!

You know there is no greyscale for me. I am addicted to ribbons and twee dresses and, at the same time, I love wearing men's clothes. Inspired by last season's Umit Benan collection, this morning I grabbed hat, shirt and tie for our Sunday walk around Malasaña. Just add some red lipstick and... voilà!

¿Echáis de menos el verano ya? ¿Sí? Pues voy a tener que deciros que no habrá más remedio que pasar otoño, invierno y primavera otra vez hasta poder volver al sol, los vestidos y las sandalias. Sin embargo, hay una manera muy muy fácil de llevar el verano siempre encima: Killing Couture. OUTFIT 0007 by Killing Couture

 

Si hay una cosa que hecho de menos de vivir en Barcelona es la playa. Mirar por la ventana y pensar que, ahí, detrás de las montañas está el mar, el olor a sal, el ir y venir de las olas. Sin embargo, y aunque aquí no hay playa, nada me impide disfrutar de mi lado marinero una vez llega el verano. Este año además me acompaña Killing Couture y su colección de primavera-verano 2014 Sail Away (de la que ya os hablé hace poco), ideal para navegar ya sea en el mar o en plena ciudad. Difícil de escoger una sola prenda, ya que todos los conjuntos llevan mi nombre - "es que son tan tú" - pero esta falda roja y la camisa que combina todas mis obsesiones fashion (cuello Peter Pan, lazo, cuadros vichy) me han robado el corazón. Un conjunto clave para el armario de verano para combinar junto o por separado en los soleados días de verano.

If there is something I miss about living in Barcelona, it must be the beach. Looking outside my window and knowing that, there, just behind those mountains there is the sea, the salty smell, the waves. However, and even if there is no beach in Madrid, nothing will keep me from enjoying my navy feel when summer arrives. This year, I am armed with Killing Couture and their summer-spring collection Sail Away -which I wrote about not so long ago- perfect to sail in the sea or in the heart of the city. Really hard to only choose a piece because all outfits have my name written on them - "they are SO you". This red skirt and the blouse that encompasses all my fashionista obsessions (Peter Pan collar, ribbons, gingham) stole my heart. A key outfit in my summer closet to match or wear separately during the sunny summer days.
