No hace mucho tiempo atrás, Tennessee Thomas vivía de gira constantement como batería de la banda The Like. Cuando la banda se separó se mudó a New York y empezó algo nuevo y emocionante, The Deep End Club. Tennesse quería juntar todo lo que le gusta: moda, arte, música... ¡Mentes creativas en general! Su tienda está directamente inspirada por sitios como The Factory de Andy Warhol, Let It Rock de Vivienne Westwood or Paraphernalia de Betsey Johnson.
Not so long ago, Tennessee Thomas was constantly touring as a drummer in the band The Like. When the band split she moved on to New York and started something new and exciting, The Deep End Club. Tennessee wanted to bring together fashion, art, music… Creative minds in general! Her store is directly inspired by places like Andy Warhol’s The Factory, Vivienne Westwood’s Let it Rock and Betsey Johnson’s Paraphernalia.
Tennesee se cansó de ver escaparates vacíos por toda la East Village y soñaba con tener su propia tienda pero, dejadme que os diga lo que ya sabéis, los alquileres en Manhattan no son de lo más barato. De todas maneras, tuvo la suerte de encontrar unas vecinas encantadoras con un local vacío y abiertas a una colaboración. Ahora, este sitio acogedor es una pequeña tienda pintada de colores alegres y con una puerta siempre abierta.
Tennesse got sick of seeing empty front shops in the East Village and dreamed of having her own but, let me tell you, rent prices in Manhattan are not the cheapest as you can imagine. However, she found some lovely neighbors with a vacant place and up for collaboration. Now, this place is a lovely store in bright colors and always-open door.
Tennesee Thomas combina su trabajo como DJ con su pequeña tienda donde vende ropa, antigüedades y prácticamente todo lo que hay a la vista. Si tienes suerte puedes llegar a entrar en la tienda y encontrarte con Alexa Chung (¡ojalá), Adam Green, la artista Cali Sales -que estaba cuidando de la tienda cuando yo estuve ahí-, o las diseñadoras Samantha Pleet, Nina Egli, Mandy Coon o Meghan Farrell.
En serio, no seas tímida - simplemente entra y dí hola, ¡puede pasar cualquier cosa!
Tennessee Thomas combines the DJing arts with her little store where she sells clothes, antiques and basically everything that is in sight. If you are lucky you might come into the store to run into the likes of Alexa Chung (I wish!), Adam Green, artist Cali Sales -who was babysitting the store when I was there-, or designers Samantha Pleet, Nina Egli, Mandy Coon or Meghan Farrell.
Seriously, don’t be shy - just pop in and say “Hi!”, anything can happen!
