LOWER EAST SIDE. Un día leí que la fotógrafa Francesca Woodman se suicidó tirándose desde la ventana de su casa en el Lower East Side. Hubo una epoca en que un ser excéntrico llamado Andy Warhol tuvo su estudio cerca de Union Square. Robert Maplethorpe, Patti Smith, los Ramones, Blondie, la Velvet Underground, artistas geniales, con vidas al límite y finales trágicos habitaron la zona. ¿Quieres conocer sus historias?

LOWER EAST SIDE. Some time ago, I read that photographer Francesca Woodman committed suicide jumping from the window of her house in the Lower East Side. There was a time when an excentric being called Andy Warhol used to have his open studio near Union Square. Robert Mapplethorpe, Patti Smith, the Ramones, Blondie, the Velvet Underground: extraordinary artists living on the edge and having tragic endings used to live in the area. GREENWICH VILLAGE. Si te gusta la música, el arte y la pop culture, sabes que Greenwich Village fue el centro del mundo durante unos años. Anais Nin, Salvador Dalí, Isadora Duncan, los Beats, y más tarde, Bob Dylan, Jimi Henddrix y la Velvet Underground fueron solo algunos de sus ilustres habitantes. A día de hoy, la Village conserva un aire bohemio pero ostenta unos alquileres carísimos y es zona de tiendas de diseñadores. Es aquí donde supuestamente vivía Carrie Bradshaw y donde realmente vive Sarah Jessica Parker. Pasado y presente, todo me encanta de la Greenwich Village.

GREENWICH VILLAGE. If you like music, art and pop culture, you know that Greenwich Village was the center of the world for some years. Anais Nin, Salvador Dalí, Isadora Duncan, the Beat Generation and, later on, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix and the Velvet Underground were only some of its famous dwellers. Today, the Village still keeps its bohemian touch but also has super expensive rents and is a designer store area. It is here where Carrie Bradshaw supposedly lived and where Sara Jessica Parker lives in real life. Past and present, I love everything about Greenwich Village.

MIDTOWN, CHELSEA & MEATPACKING DISTRICT. Tres de las zonas más emblemáticas de New York en un solo día. Un día que empezó con puntos míticos de la ciudad, siguió con rock'n'roll y moda y terminó con NBA y una vistas impresionantes del skyline de noche.

Conocer a tus diseñadores favoritos no es una cosa que pase muy a menudo, ¿verdad? Ir a New York y además tener la oportunidad de charlar, tomarme algo, visitar los estudios y tiendas de algunas de mis marcas favoritas fue todo un sueño. Mi primera visita fue la Sample Sale de Samantha Pleet en la tienda Horizons de Brooklyn en la que pude probarme algunos de los modelos de su colección Primavera-Verano 2014: Arcadia. Una colección inspirada en una isla paradisíaca llena de flores y grandes hojas verdes. ¿No os dan ganas de perderos por los mares del Caribe?

Getting to meet your favorite designers is not something that happens everyday, right? Going to New York and having the chance to chat, have a drink, visit studios and stores of some of my favorite brands was a dream come true. My first visit was to Samantha Pleet's Sample Sale at Horizons in Brooklyn, where I could try on some pieces of her Spring-Summer 2014 collection: Arcadia. A collection inspired by a paradise island full of flowers and big green leaves. Don't you want to get lost in the Caribbean sea just right now?

UPPER EAST Y WEST SIDE. New York es un millón de ciudades dentro de una isla. A veces, vas caminando y, de una calle a la otra, te encuentras en mundos totalmente diferentes. Decidimos explorar Manhattan de norte a sur - empezando a la altura de Central Park. Nuestro segundo día lo pasamos caminando por anchas avenidas, envidiando edificios con portero, viendo gente con cara de dinero y disfrutando de tiendas y escaparates. The living is easy en los Upper East y West Side. Sin embargo, nuestro día terminó en un restaurante méxicano de Williamsburg. ¿Quieres saber por qué?

UPPER EAST AND WEST SIDE. New York is a million cities inside the same island. Sometimes, you wander and, just by crossing a street, you enter completely different worlds. We decided to explore Manhattan north to south - starting at Central Park. Our Day 2 was spent walking down wide avenues, envying guarded buildings, keeping up with the Joneses and enjoying flagship stores and shopwindows. The living is easy in the Upper and West Sides. However, we ended up in a Mexican restaurant in Williamsburg. Want to know why?

DEERLIFE: New York - Day 1

Hace exactamente un mes, esto pies estaban pisando La Ciudad. Así, en mayúsculas, por que New York City es la ciudad por excelencia. Por sus rascacielos, su tráfico, su ritmo frenético, su diversidad, pero sobre todo, por sus millones de historias. New York es una ciudad diferente para cada persona que la vive. Incluso diferente cada vez que la visitas. Justo antes de cumplir los 30 y en mi cuarta vez en la ciudad, New York se convirtió en la ciudad de las ganas de vivir. Síguenos, por sus calles, sus barrios, la música, la comida y, como no, la moda.

Today exactly a month ago, these boots were walking around The City. Like this, in capital letters, because New York City is the city by definition. Because of its skyscrapers, its traffic, its hectic rhythm,its diversity, but mostly, because of its millions of stories. New York is a different city to each person who visits it. Even different every time you come back to it. Just before turning 30 and in my fourth time in the city, New York became the city of the lust for life. Walk with us around its streets, its boroughs, the music, the food and, of course, the fashion.

STYLE: Killing Couture

Enamorarme de nuevas marcas es uno de los grandes placeres de trabajar en moda. Del Mercado Central del Diseño me llevé muchas marcas, una de ellas Killing Couture!, que justo una semana más tarde presentaba su colección de primavera-verano 2014 en su taller de La Latina. ¿Verano, alguien ha dicho verano? Tenéis ganas de que llegue, ¿verdad? Cuando descubrí la colección Sail Away desée inmediatamente que fuese 21 de junio y estar de vacaciones en Niza o Saint Tropez.

Falling in love with new brands is one of the great pleasures of working in fashion. At Mercado Central del Diseño, I discovered many brands, one of them Killing Couture! that was having a collection presentation a week after. Killing Couture presented in their La Latina workshop the new spring-summer 2014 collection. Summer? Dis someone mention summer? Can't wait for it, right? When I saw the Sail Away collection I inmediately wished it were June 21st and to find myself in Nice or Saint Tropez.
