FASHION LIFE: NYFW Days 7 & 8 - Six Shows to Close Off New York

Seriously New York must be the busiest fashion week of them all. The amount of fahion events going on during 8 days is absolutely mind blowing. Not even Madrid and London which coincide fill my journal like that. Happy I have been *more or less* able to follow up with the shows and spot some trends. More to come about trends when the whole Fashion Week craziness is over. For now, let's close New York with 6 unmissable collections.

1 // Organic by John Patrick

You will find that for me it is either oversize comfortable minimalism or baroque shrilly pieces with the cute feminine outfits in between. Organic by John Patrick falls in the first category, clothes you see and want to wear. Got to admit a slight obsession for oversized dresses and pyjama looking clothing.

Designer: John Patrick
Inspiration: TLC back in the 90s
Trends: 90s, minimalism, sporty, oversize, pyjamas
Key colors: White, yellow, peach
Materials: Silk, organza, matelassé
Who will wear this? Urban girls and fashion workers such as stylists who have to trot around the city ceaselessly

The blue and white combination is my favorite for next summer. Actually for all summers. Makes me dream of Edward Hopper's houses in New England. Dreaming is free, right? If you are a lover of working in August, I must say I am, the striped pieces will definitely be a "do" in your closet.

Designer: Steven Alan
Inspiration: Back to the basic shirt
Trends: Shirt, minimalism, masculine, stripes, oversize, loose pants
Key colors: White, blue, grey, brownish
Materials: Cotton, spandex
Who will wear this? Career girls who like to keep it simple

3 // Delpozo

Josep Font is indeed the designer that makes me feel proud of Barcelona. He has always been amazingly meticulous with clothes and an incredible eye for detail. His outfits are delicate, feminine and timeless.Yay for flamingos, monkeys, origami and tulle.

Designer: Josep Font
Inspiration: Exotic nature, Josef Albers, Leopold and Rudolf Blaschka, dreams
Trends: Flora and fauna, tridimensional clothing, A-lines, top + long skirt, tulle
Key colors: Green, yellow, peach
Materials: Vinyl, chiffon, crochet, jacquard, tulle
Who will wear this? Most appropriate for indie actresses at red carpets, high-society cocktail hour and wedding guests

We are lucky that there will always be brave designers such as Betsey Johnson (and quite a handful more) ready to challenge the status quo and take the viewer out of their comfort zone. Betsey Johnson's new collection is all about decadent brides with bad make up and probably a bad hangover too. Women and men breaking with the virginal stereotype and would rather celebrate in Vegas. You can sit down and wait if you expect them to give a fuck.

Designer: Betsey Johnson
Inspiration: Vegas weddings, Grand Prospect Hall, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, drag queens
Trends: Metallic shine, shaped bags, tulle, fluff, frills, showing lingerie
Key colors: Light blue, powder pink, white
Materials: Neoprene, chiffon, lamé, silk
Who will wear this? Rock and roll brides, party animals and, probably, Courtney Love

5 // Elizabeth and James

Let's get back to sobriety after the excess. It is a delight to see what stylish and uber-wearable pieces the Olsen twins will come each season. Lots of white, stripes and graphic prints that I would like to wear everyday 9 to 5 and beyond.

Designers: Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen
Inspiration: Los Angeles, West Coast, surfing
Trends: Minimalism, normcore, California vibe, palm print
Key colors: Black, white, navy, burgundy
Materials: Stretchy crepe
Who will wear this? West Coast kids, freelance graphic designers working with their laptops from Starbucks

6 // Chloë Sevigny for Opening Ceremony

Chloë also goes back to the 90s, or did she ever leave them? She seems to have raided Cher Horowitz's closet in the last outfit and has brought to my mind things long forgotten. For example, wearing tank tops under boat necks. Welcome back 90s, we had a great time!

Designer: Chloë Sevigny
Inspiration: The 90s, Clueless, Connecticut girl, alterna-girl, hip-hop girl, Heathers
Trends: 90s, overalls, pinafore dresses, boat necks, platforms, ruffles
Key colors: Light blue, navy, red
Materials: Denim
Who will wear this? Definitely New York City girls with a love for subdued hip-hop style.

That was New York for you girls! Let's cross the ocean to London and Madrid!
